Day 10 Jackson Hole, WY, to Yellowstone Nat'l. Park

We have spent today seeing one incredible sight after another.  We left Jackson around 6:45 so we could view the Teton range soon after the sun rose. There were clouds in the east, so the sun was not shining so brightly, but as the morning progressed, the lighting got better.  How beautiful those mountains are!

We  continued to drive north into Yellowstone Nat'l. Park.  We stopped at all the pull outs to see the scenery.  There were waterfalls and cascades right along the road.

After checking into our lodging for the night, we drove northwest to see Old Faithful.  The geyser basin was a sight to behold, and it smelled like a combination of burnt matches and rotten eggs!

We walked over to the Old Faithful Hotel to view the lobby.  So pretty.

For dinner,we stopped at a picnic area and grilled hamburgers on our Coleman grill.  We were the only people in that picnic area. The burgers were great, but I kept looking around for bears after I read the sign about how they are drawn to the smell of food. I kept my car keys handy in case I needed to hit the panic button and start running for the car!

On our way back to the lodge, we saw a female elk, and further along, a male elk.  He was a big dude! Darkness was closing in and we couldn't  get a picture of him.  It is easy to tell if wildlife is ahead on the roadway - all the cars are pulling off the road.

Tomorrow, another great day at Yellowstone!
Bill's PS: At that picnic area, we found and used one of the tables with no bear warning.  Old Faithful below. Beth was shooting video and couldn't load it.  Then some of the abundant wildflowers we saw along the Snake River en route to Faithful.

Here are a couple photos of the Old Faithful Lodge which Beth described.
