As we left Moab, headed to the Needles Overlook of Canyonlands National Park, we see one of the many organized cycling tours about to embark.
We saw another arch along the road to the Park. It is Wilson Arch. There is a housing development named Wilson which can see through the arch (from the opposite side). How exclusive is that?
Canyonlands Park Needles overlook is about 40 miles SW of Moab. This overlooks a canyon that is about 10 mi across.
We were here without another soul in site for a while
and then a tour buss load of Russians pull up. Great that they can visit.
We hooked up behind another slow camper
and blew by them about here
On Scenic drive along Colorado Rt 141 there were few houses, ranches or farms. Lots of various mountain rock formations.
For several miles, the red canyon walls were right next to the road on both sides.
The picnic area had recently been upgraded via the Recovery Act Program with new tables and grills, handicap access parking, and a pathway to the self-composting toilet.
Closer to Grand Junction, we are seeing more greenery and houses.
Falling rocks? Approaching Grand Junction..
At Grand Junction, the landscape changes. Rocks that look like sand from Hwy.
