Canyonlands NP preserves a colorful landscape eroded into canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. We explored the park from the rim of the canyons so we were generally looking down into them. There are many dirt roads on the canyon rim for 4WD and mountain bikers.
They think this may be a crater from a meteorite hit.
A variety of plants are adapted to the harsh desert conditions
The white rims in the canyon around basins in the basin are popular with cyclists and bighorn sheep.
The Mesa Arch at Canyonlands is well known for the spectacular view through the arch. I love it.
The neck was used by both Indians and cowboys corral animals
See this from the neck
Dead Horse State Park is where the Green and Colorado Rivers converge.
The sun is getting low over these formations known as the Monitor and the Merimac.
Did they name them backward?
