Aug 31-Sept 1, 2017 Home to Ark Encounter

As we drive to OR to visit grandchildren, two goals were to visit Creation Museum and Ark Encounter and to drive across Logan Pass on Going-the-Sun-Road in Glacier NP.   We had sold our camper last year are traveling by car with Dottie. There are almost three "seasons" as we drive  north and across elevations.  With that and Dottie, there was plenty of luggage. Another challenge on this trip is finding pet-friendly motels.  Those which are charge an extra $20 or so a night.

On Aug 31, we drove from home, across West VA on 64 and stayed 4 nights to Florence Ky (suburb of Cincinnati, OH). Below: passing iconic W VA capitol dome

After checking in at La Quinta, we found City BBQ and enjoyed an excellent meal of local BBQ flavor.  More pricey than BBQ restaurants, but meals were big enough to have shared.

Sept 1,  in appropriately (almost) rainy weather, we visit the Ark Encounter, built to Biblical proportions, though not a floating model, is the largest wooden structure on earth.
Big inside too. From third (top) floor where living quarters are depicted, looking down onto second floor containing animal kinds and feed stores.

This exhibit addresses practical questions we have about the Ark and the flood account. How did Noah obtain every species of animal and get them onto the Ark?  The Bible clearly states the animals came and Noah brought pairs of all kinds onto the Ark.  Kind refers to something like families rather than species.  Below are some examples any examples of kinds enclosed on the Ark

Cattle kind

Bat kind

Rebbachisaurus kind

Displays and exhibits showed family life, ventilation, lighting, animal feeding, sanitation, etc on the ark.  Biblical accounts include iron work, one of the technologies apparently lost for a period post flood.

The research presented in the Ark exhibits compare Biblical interpretation of archaeological findings with those presuming random progression.  Because this is a main subject of the Creation Museum, we show it on that entry.
