Feb 2 - to Salton Sea

We left Castaic Lake RV Park, Castaic CA north of Pasadena and drove by the Rose Bowl.  We wanted to lay in it but guards would not let us in.

A couple thousand wind turbines and a lot of rocks.  Wondered why they put windmills in valley instead of higher ground where they may catch more wind

Sunset at Salton Sea.  The area was once the proposed 'Riviera' of the USA", a developer's dream with booming tourism.  This terminal lake, (well below sea level) is a repository for runoff from intense agricultural operations.  During the '50s, Salinity began a series of fish die-offs and bird kills which left the area too putrid for further development.  Now it is a deserted except for occasional campers.
