San Francisco to Mariposa

We took a 3.5 hour city tour of San Francisco on a double-decker tour bus but not open top like the one below.  The city is about seven miles square and is on 40-some hills.

electric trolley buses - plenty along main routes

Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill is a 210-foot (64 m) tower in the Telegraph Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California

The Transamerica Pyramid is the tallest skyscraper in the San Francisco skyline

The Ferry Building Marketplace is located along the Embarcadero at the foot of Market Street. It is the center of a transit hub that connects all of San Francisco's neighborhoods and the surrounding bay communities.

Building with plenty of glass

there werre several of these buildings on sharp corners

SF City Hall

don't know what this is, but check out the power lines for street cars and trollies

Misión Dolores San Francisco de Asís was founded June 29, 1776, under the direction of Father Junipero Serra and is the oldest original intact Mission in California and the oldest original building in the city

Welcome to the Japanese Tea Garden, the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States located inside Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California.

In the garden

Alcatraz -  1.5 mole in 50F water. Once thought impossible due to sharks and currents.  Hundreds now do it each September.

On the Golden Gate Bridge

how it looks on the bridge.  Ishot this  and a few of the other photos down the bus isle from about halfway back on the bus.

Old style trolly carscars

You can zip all over town while this little yellow car takes you on a GPS-guided tour of San Francisco. This clever talking car navigates and shows you the way – but that’s not all. As you enjoy the drive, it takes you to all the best sites and tells the stories that bring this unique city to life.

How's this for souvenir/gift store?
