May 23 Pendleton to Bridgeport WA

We left Pendleton and drove north through Washington beside beside the Columbia River.  A Columbia drive is always scenic because there is usually big rock on one side of the road and big, fast water on the other

Park Lake at Sun Lakes- Dry Falls State Park. The escarpment on the left is part of the 3.5 mi wide falls described below

South of Coulee city and on the way to Bridgeport, we stopped at Dry falls, which is said to be the largest falls in geological history: 400 ft high and 3.5 mi across.  The falls covered more than the far escarpment,  and it's maximum 65 mph flow is said to have equaled that of all the current rivers of the world.

Camped at Bridgeport Municipal Marina Campground.

The next AM, we photographed a few of the about 20 chainsaw carved redwood stumps we had passed driving through town to the campground
