June 6 - 7 Thunder Bay to Ignace Mi

June 6: Leaving Thunder Bay, we proceded eastward around Lake supeior

We stayed a rainy night at Wawa RV Resort and Campground
 campground

June 7: We drove into nearby Wawa Ontario.  The town may be best know for its goose statues, said to be among the most photographed landmarks in North America.




the waterfront park in Wawa was scenic


and ther was a huge drill that had ben usedlocally for mining iron ore

yup, despite rough exteriors, the outhouses at Young General store are fully functional modern facilities.  The store had a full line of souveneirs and fishing supplies as wel as candyand ice ceam.



Our next stop was at old Woman Bay, one of several scnic bays in Ontario provential lake Supeior park. old Woman Bay was a safe haven for fur traders and its cliffs home for peregrine falcon





leaving here, we cross Old Woman river and can see form the Highway where it flows into the bay

Then Katherine Cove


Beth at mouth of the river of fine White Sand

Headed east across river, looking right down toward Bay and then left upstream




At places the Lake looked a little like minerature Oregon coast

A little other Lake scenery.  this is a big park

We cross into the US at Sault St Marie



xWe stayed At Tiki campground in Ignace MI
