Nashville, Monday, Sept. 30 through Thursday, October 3

Monday through Wednesday nights, we camped  at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Nashville.

Tuesday we took a city tour and saw the downtown area  and some beautiful mansions of such notables as Dolly Parton and Alan Jackson.

On Wednesday, we woke up to rain, so our morning plans were put on hold.  In the afternoon, we parked the RV across the way at the Opryland Hotel and walked around in the public atrium  areas.  Amazing hotel with such beautiful indoor gardens.  We had to walk past all the taxis waiting for fares.  One of the drivers told us he had to wait there for a couple of hours before he had riders.  Efficient use of time?? I think not!

Thursday Oct 3, before we left Nashville, we took a shuttle into Downtown Nashville.  We went to the  Country Music Hall of Fame.  Beth enjoyed seeing all the stage costumes, even dating back to the earliest days of country music. We took a walk along Broadway , and  even at 11AM , the honky-tonks were going strong.  Hundreds of musicians play for tips at  dozens of free venues including bars, restaurants, and sidewalks.  Walking the half dozen blocks around Broadway, you can hear about anything you came to Nashville to hear – not just country.

As we drove away from Nashville on Thursday afternoon, Bill and I decided we would definitely come back and plan to spend a week because of all the things we didn’t have time to see.

We found a campground on an IPad app that was affiliated with Loretta Lynn and was supposed to have level campsites.  We've found that is a great thing to look for.  We got there after dark, and even though almost no other campers, we were disappointed with the whole place.  The deciding factor was when I (Beth) saw a skunk under someone else's RV.  We went back to the main road and found a KOA in Buffalo, TN that was more to our liking.
