After a week or so of delays, we don’t know who won the pool
as to when or what day we would actually leave. We had finally said noon Friday, and left
about 2:20, so that’s pretty good.
Thanks, Rebecca for our trip departure photo.
We have probably packed twice what we need, but as we pull out, we are wondering what we forgot. During the first of a half a dozen pit stops, we smell propane outside the propane tank. After we stop at Paradise Family Campground near Appomattox, we discover there’s essentials we can’t find ,like Beth’s needles. (We have had several all out searches for things we can’t find. )After searching and contingency planning, we locate everything, but LP gas smells pretty bad in RV, so we turn it off at tank and smell goes away. We were hoping it was coming from our neighbor’s big honking gas grills, a permanent site, but no such luck

Saturday we find RV place to fix propane leak. Camping World, Roanoke. Though we spent the good part of the day
there, they had the added bonus of a free cookout with hotdogs, burgers,
chicken, and potato salad. The repair was a no charge warranty repair
and they had the part. We were on the road
again by 3:30. While at CW, w e joined Good Sam club for $25
to get discounts, and to our surprise got a voucher for $25 for stay at a Good
Sam campground. For our second night, we
stopped at Sugar Hollow Campground in Bristol VA/TN. It’s a city park, wooded, hilly place with
electric hookups and great bathhouse. Seems
bathhouse quality is better out of vacation season, because there is no crowd. Caveat: no level lots, but we got leveled-up
OK. Beth was leery of a city park, not sure what
kind of campers would be there. We were about the only non-locals , but our
campsite was in another area of the park. We like this place better than Loft Mountain
where we stayed in July. Only $16 to camp
here with electric.
So we've been on the road for 2 days and only gotten as far as the Virginia/Tennessee border!
